St. Eds Res Hall Final Days

Saying Goodbye to Saint Ed's

In July 2019, the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota community will say goodbye to St. Edward's Hall. This residence hall was opened in 1957 and named for the then-current Bishop of Winona, Edward Fitzgerald. Known affectionately as just "Ed's," this hall housed approximately 114 first-year students in double rooms.

In Ed's 62 year history, it has housed more than 7,000 Saint Mary's students, and an immeasurable number of stories and memories. Alumni and current students alike have enjoyed their introductory experience to campus from within its halls, and have been proud to call this building their home.

The building may be gone soon; but now, you can own a piece of this history! Saint Mary's is providing an opportunity to purchase a brick from St. Ed's Hall. Each brick is $125, which includes shipping fees. All proceeds from brick sales will go to the Saint Mary Fund, which supports students and academic programs on campus. Get your very own piece of Saint Mary's history today!

About Those Bricks...

Please note that bricks from Ed's will be "demolition quality." While we will do our best to find whole, clean bricks; razing a building, is, after all, an indelicate process. Your brick will probably have a little dirt, and likely come with scars, busted corners, and/or the remains of mortar and other bricks attached. They may have imperfections, but they will be 100% authentic Saint Mary's history.
